YuriZen Alterations is a Cape Town-based sewing business that specialises in modifying your clothing to fit as good as new. Whether you need to shorten your jeans, replace a broken zip/rivet, or patch a hole in your most-prized denims, we've got you covered.

The meaning behind YuriZen is twofold. Yuri means ‘lily’ in Japanese, which was my late mother’s favourite flower and my inspiration for starting this business. And Zen as in peace, calmness and tranquility.
A peace lily, if you will.

MEET THE SEAMSTRESS

Hi. I'm Zulaiga, the sewing magician behind YuriZen. I have a diploma in fashion design and extensive experience with design, pattern drafting, sewing and mending spanning over 4 decades. I find it very fulfilling to do repairs and see the happiness on a client’s face when their favourite garment has been restored to near brand new.

My experience includes very challenging mending projects, which I've happily risen to the occasion to meet. A client once asked me to turn their old, damaged T-shirt in their favourite print into a pillowcase. My services have also been used to put an old T-shirt print onto a new T-shirt to save it. I also have extensive experience in repairing tattered and torn jeans with elaborate patchwork, giving them a renewed life. Some of my joyous past times has also been to mend soft toys for my kids, patching their clothes, altering my children's baby clothes to fit their teddy bears.

I love a challenging fix! No repair is too silly, difficult or much of a problem for me to do, especially on-trend denim alterations. It seems we're all trying to save our good ol’ fav pair jeans and jackets!
